Hi, I’m Kate.

I’m honored to serve as a companion and guide through the turning points of life, including marriage and new life, death and grief, and everything in between.

As an interfaith minister, my job is to listen deeply about what makes life meaningful to you.   I don’t claim any particular path to be more true than any other –  just this unfolding human experience that we share.

Fun facts about Kate:

  • I love hiking and kayaking, improv comedy, herbal medicine, post-apocalyptic fiction, and the Olympics

  • I live on a mountain in a multi-generational family home along with two cats, a golden retriever, a crested gecko, and a colony of honeybees

  • Favorite travels include Peru, Sierra Leone, and Norway.  I speak a little bit of Spanish, French, and Norwegian (but not enough to officiate a wedding in any of those languages!)

I’ve been officiating weddings in Central Virginia since 2013 (I was already in seminary to become a chaplain, and friends who were getting married asked me to be their officiant – I loved it and haven’t stopped!).  In addition to weddings, I also work with families and communities around end-of-life and after-death care, including home funerals, green burials, memorial services, and support through the unfolding journey of grief.  I serve as a chaplain at a local hospital, and also work with people one-on-one as a spiritual counselor in my private office in Charlottesville.

  • Kate's calm and warm demeanor created an atmosphere of intimacy and joy. She delivered each word with sincerity and grace, drawing in our guests and making them feel like they were a part of our love story.

  • I felt truly seen, which is what I was longing for.

  • I just wanted to express my gratitude for you for holding sacred space for me and my family. I didn't realize how much I needed that till you showed up and offered it.
