Rev. Kate

About Kate

Rev. Kate is an ordained interfaith minister living in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia. She loves to hike, kayak, swim in mountain streams, and gather wild edible and medicinal plants. She finds her deepest peace being in nature, dancing, sitting around a fire with friends, and writing haikus.

Kate grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati, studied Sociology and Religion at a tiny liberal arts college in Ohio, and lived on a commune for 4 years where she loved milking cows, directing musicals, and facilitating community meetings.

She has traveled to Peru, Sierra Leone, Puerto Rico, Norway, and various other parts of Western Europe. She speaks a little bit of Spanish, French, and Norwegian, and she can count to 100 in Swedish. She enjoys learning to pronounce unusual names correctly, and especially likes to honor a couple’s family heritage by including cultural traditions and/or ancestral language in ceremonies, if desired.

Rev. Kate has been officiating weddings in Central Virginia since 2013. In addition to weddings, Rev. Kate also works with families and communities around end-of-life and after-death care, including home funerals, green burials, memorial services, and offering support through the unfolding journey of grief.
